Finally in Kansas! Manhattan Kansas wahoo!
I got here Wednesday! Manhattan is on the eastern side ish... and very humid! Kansas is very flat and superrr open and pretty! Buuut Manhattan is definitely one of the hillier places in Kansas so it's not just open fields forever here haha! Driving from the airport and around for different conferences and things has been super fun to see the state a little bit more :) My trainer is Sister Wirick and she is awesome! She is from Florida and this is her first time training so it's new learning for both of us haha! We are serving in a YSA branch, which is a little tough right now because many of our branch members are moving away for school, but we're also getting new ones moving in so we are hopeful to find some more people there!
Highlights for my days here: - the drive from Wichita to Manhattan. We passed so many long fields of corn and wheat and they seemed to go on forever! SO pretty! - 59 MOSQUITO BITES! not necessarily a highlight but definitely a big event. We went to a member's house to serve on Saturday for 2 hours and I got alllll of them there. 48 just on my ankles, and the rest on my arms hahah. Not thinking to bring my bug spray was definitely not my best moment... but at least someone is drawn to me as a missionary right?! JK. But still lol. - the sky was so stormy last night! I thought/hoped that maybe we'd get a tornado... but nope. That's okay though maybe eventually. - we've been teaching quite a few members which is always fun! The branch is small, but there are some awesome members. - pday birthday party for Elder Christiansen our district leader :)
Been quite a roller coaster of a week adjusting haha! But overall I am happy to be a missionary. Each day has its mental ups and downs but I truly am happy to be here in Kansas representing my Savior! Quick scripture I love: Alma 36:3- "Whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials..." Alma 36-37 are AWESOME and I loved studying them for come follow me this week! God is on our side, and if we do our part and allow Him to be let into our lives, He will support us :) Love you all! Sorella Nydegger
